A Creative Rut

I do think that I have hit a brick wall...creatively. I want to scrap...I go in my room and look at all my stuff...but there is no creative juice flowing. I continue to take pictures...lots that are still on my digital camera card (note to self...get them off the card and on the computer!) Maybe I am tired of my scrapping supplies...seems like I have the same old crap and just cant seem to use anything up. Yeah...I know I am just rambling hoping that somewhere out there someone will be reading this and have some ideas for me.

I think a lot of the creative block is due to some things that are going on with me. We are trying to have a baby and it is not going all that well...much harder this time around. Being on hormones in picnic either! Then there is work...I hate it...it is boring and I just don't feel like going there. Yeah, I know we need the money but my sanity is more important. I have been sucking it up and going just hoping that some day something is going to happen to fix all this crap that is going on.

Since I started working I hardly ever get to see Jason and that is really bothering me...I did not think that it would but I really really miss him! I miss the time that we had just the two of us during the day when Hunter would be in school. Last summer we had fun during the day while Jason and I were both home and then at night, if I was not working, Hunter and I would just chill...I wish it were like that again! Yes, everything has to change but I'm not liking this change!

Well...that is all for now...off to look at some inspiration and then I'm off to bed. Here is hoping that the creative bug hits me while I sleep so I can scrap while Hunter is at football practice tomorrow night. (yes, he is playing football...he loves it...figures!)

Night all!

  2. Hey Shannon,
I realise that the blog entry I just read was August but I just wanted to say I hope things are working out for you. A couple of months ago I hit the same wall, all me creativity went out the window and no matter how hard I tried nothing would happen and if it di it was YUK! But the good news is I perservered and now I'm back creating madly, their isn't enough hours in the day to play....maybe if I didn't go to work! Bad idea I need the money for toys, saving madly to buy the Cricut Expressions at the moment so yeah it's off to work I go...don't really love that at the moment but it'a a means to an end.
Hope the world's a bit brighter for you now anyway.
    Cheers
    Liddy

  3. Hey Sweet...

I know how you feel I had one of these a little while back. I took awhile to get over it. Dont force it it will come. What helped me was sitting at my computer looking at my photos then sitting there with a sketch pad and making notes etc..

    Miss you too..

US Marine Casualty Cards

Earlier this week I got my copy of Family Tree Magazine and I was reading an article that led me to World War II History Network and from there I found a link to an article about the United States Marine Corp making their casualty cards searchable.  You can find the database at Casualty Cards Database.
Fred Thomas, my husbands great uncle, was in WWII and in the Marines.  I searched the database and found :

On the first page it states : While the cards for World War II through Korea are not classified, however, they can often be very graphic. Therefore, to maintain the dignity and honor of the Marines, the individual cards will only be released, upon request, on a case by case basis. To request a card, please send an email tohistory.division@usmc.milor a request in writting to: United States Marine Corps History Division

I immediately sent an email {about 12:30 am because I don't sleep} requesting more information a…

Goodbye Evernote, Hello OneNote

What?  I'm leaving Evernote behind!
As most of you know I have been a huge Evernote supporter from the beginning and I have had a paid membership from the beginning {until October 1st}.There has been a lot of talk about Evernote not lasting much longer because they have been making a lot of changes and letting people go.That got me thinking about what I would do if they did cease to exist.I started looking at all of my options and the best option, for me, is OneNote.I already have it on my computer and it is free.I can use OneNote on my desktop, laptop, phone, and table all for free.I can still use tags {a bit different than what I am use to but it works and I am finding that I really don't need that many tags}.I can still search for things and actually find what I am looking for.I can still clip stuff from the web using the OneNote clipper.I'm currently working on moving notes from Evernote to OneNote. It can be a bit tedious but the process has forced me to look at my note…

OneNote | A Look Inside

I still have a few more notes to move over from Evernote but I am loving OneNote.  I keep to do lists, goals, projects, ideas, genealogy research and so much more in OneNote.  So what does my setup look like?  Lets take a look!

{I usually use OneNote 2016 but I have tried the Windows 10 app and it works just as good.}

The first screen shot below is OneNote 2016 and the second is from the Windows 10 app.  My first notebook is my task management notebook.  In this notebook I have my Inbox, which is my default section for incoming stuff, calendar and lists.  {Emails that I have sent to OneNote and screen clips go in my Inbox section.} The next notebook is for my blog, and then the Genealogy notebook is for research notes, then I have the GBT notebook which I use for notes and reminders for GeneaBloggersTribe, the Reference notebook is for things that don't belong in one of the other notebooks,  and the last notebook is the Archive.

Lets take a closer look at some of these notebooks.  …
