X is for {e}xcluding information in a potential problems report.

To get to the Potential Problems Report I go to My Toolbar > Report Menu > Other > Potential Problems.

The first tab, Records, allows you to choose what you want to search.  All records, records with previous errors along with new records, etc. and you can also check records with a certain tag# and tag all problems records with a certain tag#.  Tagging your records with potential problems is beneficial because it makes it easier to work with the records to make corrections.

On the warnings tab you can select when Legacy will warn you of potential problems in you database.  You can adjust the warnings to fit your needs.

Under the problems tab you can select what problems you want to be notified of.

The warnings und the standardization tab help keep your database consistent.

Under the gaps tab you are able to adjust the gaps that you get a warning for a potential problem.

I have a note in Evernote in my Best Practices notebook that lists all of the database maintenance that I perform on my Legacy database.  I also have an individual note in my To Do notebook with a reminder set.  Once the task is completed I reset the reminder for the specified amount of time.

These time frames came from a LVUG Hangout done by Tessa Keough at Legacy Virtual Users Group on Google+

Above you can see my list of reminders and where the database maintenance actions are.  {Potential Problems report is due tomorrow.}  I try to do them on their due dates but I don't freak out if I am a few days late.  One the task is completed I will reset the reminder date for the desired amount of time.

Look out for letter Y next!

Stitching Update…Lots of pics

LHN Family Sampler (excuse my crooked house…not sure why it looks like that) American Flag Quilt Sampler by Rosewood Manor.  I love stitching on this; I did however run out of the Brethren Blue.  I decided to put this down for a little while and have picked up the family sampler again. A close up! HAED Natures Mourning.  I have not worked on this in a while.  I plan to stitch on LHN Family Sampler until Friday and then work on this next. Last but not least is a little freebie that I did before Christmas.

Family Sampler Update

I was hoping to get more done on this this past week but another trip to the ER on Wednesday night did not leave much time for stitching.  I was very dehydrated and my potassium was low and I found out that I have a UTI.  I was really surprised about the UTI because I did not have the normal symptoms.  The antibiotic has really been helping.  I was not feeling well and just laying on the couch but then I got dizzy and fell so Jason had to come home from work and take me to the ER.  Yesterday was the first that I really spent any time stitching but I did get a lot done.  I switched to my HAED Nature’s Mourning for this week.  So far today I have gotten a lot done.  Hopefully this week I will stay healthy and want to cross stitch. Enjoy your week! Happy Stitching!!

5 Tips to Break Down Your Brick Wall

Originally posted at Lost Tree Project as a guest post February 2019. Eventually we all hit a brick wall.  My first brick wall was with Joseph Thomas {my husband's 3rd great grandfather} I spent months searching.  Brick walls can last weeks to months to years.  Below are some quick tips to help you break through that brick wall. Research another ancestor for a while and then go back to your brick wall .  You will see your brick wall ancestor with new eyes. Use a checklist to see if you missed any records.  {You can find my Evernote Research Checklist in my shared genealogy notebook.} Revisit your research.  Maybe you missed a piece of information in a document.  Maybe something seemed like it wasn't important but now that you have more information you find it is important. Learn something new.  It does not need to be genealogy related.  When you shift your thinking to something else and then go back to the brick
