Evolution of A Blog!

I started this blog way back in January of 2006! (Somewhere around the 16th I believe)

The things I have blogged about have changed drastically.  I recently spent some time going through some old posts and it was a lot of fun reliving what I/we were doing and it is amazing home my little boy has changed into a young man.

I use to blog about photography, scrapbooking, and cross stitch.  While those things are all still a part of me I find it easier to post on facebook or twitter about that stuff.  Pictures of family and friends all go to facebook now.  When I first started blogging I had this blog plus others so there were times where this one wasn't getting any updates but I was still blogging on my other blogs.  Now, I am down to one blog that is filled mainly with genealogy stuff with some of the other stuff thrown in from time to time.

This is what I use to blog about:

And this is what I blog about now:

If you have been with me since the beginning...Thank You and if you are new...Welcome!

I'm hoping that I can use this blog this year to further my genealogy research and hopefully make some new friends and maybe even gain some cousins along the way!

The Great Genealogy Shape Up of 2018!

For most of 2017, I spent my genealogy time cleaning up my database in Legacy Family Tree.  I'm still working on cleaning up messes from when I first started my family tree.  For 2018, I plan to continue cleaning up my database.  I would also like to finish adding all Find A Grave information to my database as well.
Find A Grave is a great place to find leads to research.  Legacy makes it very easy to find everyone in your database who do not have Find A Grave memorials.

Click the drop-down arrow on the Find A Grave icon and it gives you the following options:

I selected create a list of people without a Find A Grave Memorial and I got a nice LONG list of people.  From this list, I have been able to find more ancestors to research and add to my database.
My other goal for 2018 is to find the people in my database who do not have a source {yes, I said without a source.  Gasp!} Legacy also makes it very easy to find these people.  You want to click on Search {in the image of the…

Goodbye Evernote, Hello OneNote

What?  I'm leaving Evernote behind!
As most of you know I have been a huge Evernote supporter from the beginning and I have had a paid membership from the beginning {until October 1st}.There has been a lot of talk about Evernote not lasting much longer because they have been making a lot of changes and letting people go.That got me thinking about what I would do if they did cease to exist.I started looking at all of my options and the best option, for me, is OneNote.I already have it on my computer and it is free.I can use OneNote on my desktop, laptop, phone, and table all for free.I can still use tags {a bit different than what I am use to but it works and I am finding that I really don't need that many tags}.I can still search for things and actually find what I am looking for.I can still clip stuff from the web using the OneNote clipper.I'm currently working on moving notes from Evernote to OneNote. It can be a bit tedious but the process has forced me to look at my note…
